Abstract

The Effect of Using the Brainly Platform as an Interactive
Learning Medium on Increasing Students’ Active Participation at SMPN 26
Makassar. Thesis of the Social Studies Education Study Program, Department of
History and Social Sciences Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law,
Universitas Negeri Makassar. Supervised by Hasni and Sakmawati.
This study aims to determine: 1) an overview of the use of the Brainly
platform as an interactive learning media at SMPN 26 Makassar; 2) the supporting
and inhibiting factors in using Brainly as an interactive learning media at SMPN 26
Makassar; and 3) the effect of Brainly platform usage on students’ active
participation at SMPN 26 Makassar. This research uses a quantitative approach with
a correlational research design. The research variables consist of Brainly usage
(variable X) and students’ active participation (variable Y). Data collection
techniques were conducted through observation, documentation, and questionnaire
distribution, while data analysis was performed using simple linear regression with
the help of SPSS version 27.
The results of the study indicate that: 1) the use of Brainly as an interactive
learning media at SMPN 26 Makassar is categorized as “high,” as shown by
indicators of (a) frequency of use, (b) ease of access, (c) duration of use, and (d)
diversity of activities; 2) supporting factors include the attractive platform interface,
flexible access, and relevant content, while inhibiting factors are students’ tendency
to copy answers without understanding the material and the lack of supervision in
its use; 3) there is a positive and significant effect of Brainly usage on increasing
students’ active participation at SMPN 26 Makassar, with a correlation coefficient
of 0.706 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.602 or 60.2%.
