Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of socio-cultural and economic capital on the welfare of palm sugar farmers in Umpungeng Village, Soppeng Regency. A qualitative descriptive approach is used to understand the relationship between the two capitals in supporting the sustainability of the palm sugar business. Data were obtained through in- depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies involving palm sugar farmers as the main subject of the study. The results of the study show that social capital, such as mutual trust relationships, working networks between farmers, and community solidarity, plays an important role in strengthening cooperation and business efficiency. Cultural capital is in the form of local knowledge about the palm sugar processing process and traditional wisdom to maintain product quality. Meanwhile, economic capital, including access to financial capital and supporting infrastructure, significantly increases productivity. The combination of these three capitals has been proven to be able to increase farmers' income and economic welfare. The conclusion of this study underscores the importance of integrating social, cultural, and economic capital to support the sustainability of the palm sugar business. The support of the government and related parties is needed to strengthen access to economic resources and preserve local wisdom. This is expected to encourage sustainable improvement of farmers' welfare
